Torture, abhorent as it may be, is a part of humanity.  From the earliest times, man has used it for various ends.  From the nailing of people on crosses to the Spanish Inquisition to Bosnian jail cells, this has been with us.  But it is also an individual action.  Charles Ng and his partner Leonard Lake sexually torturing their victims in California.  Children torturing animals.  Consensual sexual torture (BDSM).  What is this part of humanity which revels in the pain of others?
